Food
Children can be fussy eaters
so it is important to find foods that they like that ensure they are getting all the required nutrients. I will work closely
with parents to tailor menus to suit the children in my care. We grow our own tomatoes, apples, strawberries and blueberries
in the garden and children will be encouraged to learn about where food comes from by helping to look after these crops.
I would ordinarily expect
most children in my care to arrive having already had breakfast but breakfast arrangements can be agreed with parents if needed.
Below are examples of the
kind of foods that are on offer based on what we often have at the moment. Parents will be told what their child has eaten
each day when they are collected. Vegetarian options, cultural
requirements and allergies can be discussed and catered for if needed.
Snacks Healthy snacks
are available throughout the day and I find that children of all ages are quite capable of making themselves understood when
they are hungry. The sorts of things on offer include: - Bananas
- Apples
- Sultanas
- Fruitbread
- Breadsticks
- Grapes
- Toast
Lunch Lunch is normally a combination of ham/chicken/turkey/cream
cheese sandwich or wrap with things like tomato, cucumber, cheese, grapes, satsuma and/or yoghurt.
Tea The kind of things we are currently having for tea include: - Roast beef or lamb with roast potatoes and broccoli and/or peas, sweetcorn and carrot.
- Pasta
with tuna and tomato & basil sauce with sweetcorn.
- Fish fingers with chunky chips & peas.
- Spaghetti
bolognese with carrot & sweetcorn.
- Salmon with mashed potato & mixed veg.
- Seafood risotto.
Desserts Usually fresh fruit or yoghurt.
