Transport
If I need it, I have access to a top of the range Toyota Avensis which is insured
for me to use for childminding. However, I let my wife take it to work most of the time as I much prefer to walk everywhere.
This gives everyone the opportunity to get some fresh air and enjoy and talk about the things we see on the way to wherever
we're going. Parking the car for the moment, there are eight other ways I can get your child from A to B.
Baby Bjorn Carrier
Great for small babies. Good for Manoeuvrability (no need to worry about stairs) and
good visability for baby once they can hold their head up. Good for keeping baby warm and secure whilst keeping your hands
free. Bad for active babies with long legs as they have a tendancy to kick me in the delicates.
Little Life Voyager Back Pack
Great for children too big for the Baby Bjorn and right up to the age of three
if neccessary. Superb internal storage for nappies, wipes, bottles etc. Very comfortable for me and baby. Excellent visability
for baby and first class opportunity wipe dribble, snot etc in the back of my hair.
Mclaren Umbrella Buggy
Good for short, quick trips if you don't need too much storage. Reclines slightly
with leg rest for baby to relax/sleep. Good fitting rain cover. Bad for travelling at speed (fast walk/jog) due
to small plastic swivel front wheels that also make for a bumpy ride over uneven surfaces.
Jane Powertrack 360
Great three-wheeler with pneumatic tyres for smooth comfortable ride over most
surfaces. Front disc brake for safe descent of steep hills. Good storage under seat. Reclines almost to horizontal for
baby to sleep. Fitted with colourful cosytoes in the winter to keep baby snug and warm. Front wheel has 'sprint' and 'shop'
modes allowing it to be fixed or enabling it to swivel for excellent manoeuvrability in small shops at low speed. Other
accessories include raincover and separate sunshade that fits over existing canopy. Front bar slightly chewed and front wheel
still has 'shopping trolley effect' at speed, even in sprint mode.
Out 'n' About Nipper - Twin Buggy
My favourite buggy. Three wheeler with pneumatic tyres and fixed front wheel creating
a smooth ride at any speed. Beautifully balanced even when fully loaded and turns on a sixpence. Seats are independently adjustable
and recline to horizontal. Complete with two cosytoes that zip and popper nice and high to keep children warm on even the
coldest of days. Huge canopy that provides shade in the summer and shelter from wind and rain. When raincover is fitted it
looks so cosy I wish I could sleep in there myself.
Buggy Board
Great attachment for older children to hitch a ride on. Clips fitted to both the
Jane Powertrack and Out 'n' About Nipper. Can be tied up out of the way when not in use but really hurts your shins if you
don't secure it properly.
My Shoulders
What child doesn't enjoy a shoulder ride? Although I'm not equipped with the
broadest of shoulders, both my children love being up high and enjoying the view. Watch out for low trees.
Shanks' Pony
They can always walk! And as they get older I would encourage children to walk
short distances anyway.
